We are very grateful to Professor Michelle Lowe @drmichellelowe, Director of the Institute of Education at the University of Wolverhampton, who has agreed to host our #LearningFirst conference on Saturday, 1st October 2016.
In order to maximise the number of delegates, we are expecting that the conference will be run on very similar lines to the launch event, at Sheffield Hallam, in May.
So, there are a few things we need to make progress on:
Workshop speakers: We are inviting colleagues, from as broad a range of settings as possible, to contribute to this conference. If you would like to lead a workshop, please complete this form . The workshop themes are ‘An approach to assessment @BeyondLevels. In particular:
- curriculum planning to support principled assessment that puts #LearningFirst;
- models, which promote and capture pupils’/students’ evaluation of their learning. or
- tracking, recording and analysis that promotes and secures #LearningFirst.’
All themes may be generic, subject or phase specific.
Some of our #LearningFirst colleagues, led by Michelle Heelis @heelismichelle, have been instrumental in getting this conference off the ground and will be very actively spreading the word, as there are many colleagues who we still need to get signed up to the #LearningFirst agenda.
Delegate tickets: Due to the ongoing generosity of colleagues, this conference will be another FOC event. Tickets will be managed via Eventbrite. 250 tickets will be released in the first instance, with a waiting list.
If there is a significant demand for tickets, we will release a further 200 tickets to those on the waiting list.
In the first instance, only existing #LearningFirst community members will be able to secure tickets. All members will receive an Eventbrite email on Monday 8th August at 9.00a.m. Members will have until midnight on Sunday 4th September to secure a ticket. or sign up to the waiting list for the second release of tickets.
Obviously, this is not the best time of year to be releasing tickets, but hopefully the large number of tickets we are releasing and the long period of time in which to secure them, will mean that most colleagues, who wish to attend the conference, will be able to do so.
Although, these details are still to be been confirmed, it is expected that the conference will run from 10.30a.m. to approx 4.00p.m. – registration on the day opening at 9.15a.m.
Conference venue address:
Institute of Education @wlv_education
